Positive action to promote equality |
|
‘Positive’ discrimination (e.g. promoting someone because they are a woman or a member of an ethnic minority) is unlawful. However, positive action (e.g. taking steps to encourage applications from under-represented groups or to provide training to help them compete on equal terms with the majority) is lawful, and may be considered where appropriate under the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
We have developed an effective Career Development Programme for ethnic minority staff to address the problem of slow career progression and under-representation. For more information about the programme email: training@copeforequality.co.uk
We run a successful Personal Effectiveness Training programme which has helped numerous ethnic minority office staff to progress in their career and fulfil their potential. Click here for more details.
We also support students (including young people from underachieving and disadvantaged backgrounds) who are preparing to enter the labour market by providing an inspirational 1 day workshop which will equip them to make a positive start to their career and maximise their potential. We can help you develop and deliver in-house positive action initiatives which are tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals and the organization.
